Creating memorable video for progressive candidates and causes.

  • Hillary Clinton 2016

Jon traveled with Secretary Hillary Clinton, filming public appearances and behind-the-scenes moments, cutting the footage into social media videos. The entire team’s footage was later made into the Hulu doc “Hillary.”

After he and the team edited one incredible, unscripted moment into an ad overnight, “Brave,” the New York Times credited the video with helping win the Nevada caucuses.

Back at HQ during the general election, Jon produced, shot and edited viral videos start-to-finish that earned 65 million views including campaign favorites “Progress is On the Ballot,” “The Story of Her,” and “Equal.”

  • Beto O'Rourke 2022

Jon built a team of videomakers for Beto O’Rourke’s 2022 gubernatorial campaign as its director of video, creating 1500 videos that earned 200 million views and resulting in Beto ranking as the most-engaged gubernatorial candidate on social media for the cycle. Strategically shunning high-gloss polish, the team leaned into “grassroots authenticity” to match Beto’s vibe.

Jon traveled with Beto around Texas in his truck, filming all public appearances and cutting the footage into videos between events from the backseat. Political experts credited Jon with innovating a new style of political video and praised the team’s storytelling. Jon’s finance colleagues said the work helped them break Texas fundraising records.

  • Human Rights Campaign 2018, 2020, 2024

As HRC’s director of video, Jon expanded the Human Rights Campaign’s video team in 2017 to bolster its electoral work through a mix of livestreams, social media edits, short docs, endorsements and advertisements.

Jon supported the HRC president’s barnstorming tour of competitive Congressional races in 2018, worked to elect Joe Biden and a pro-equality Congress in 2020 and created a 2024 Joe Biden endorsement video for HRC’s PAC.
