Video & Multimedia Journalism

  • Freelance

As a freelance director, producer, shooter and editor, I created award-winning videos with Humans of New York photographer Brandon Stanton, generated men’s style pieces for Men’s Health and Glamor, produced Grammy docs for CBS Local, filmed for a New York Magazine fashion documentary and contributed video journalism pieces to Reuters, ProPublica and many other national publications.

  • New York Post

As the New York Post’s director of video programming, I launched and managed original digital video series—quirky, fun gossip programming for Page Six, celebrity videos with swagger, and high-polish fashion week pieces. I immediately earned as much initial traffic with half the staff.

  • MSNBC

I launched "MSNBC Originals” as a senior producer, supervising production of impactful mini docs that covered core progressive issues while building a global network of freelance professionals. I personally contributed shorts to the series centering on LGBTQ+ news.

I produced, filmed and edited content for MSNBC Digital, MSNBC’s streaming platform, shift, and prime-time TV shows including “Morning Joe,” “NewsNation,” and “Melissa Harris Perry.”

On Facebook, I oversaw the creation of record-breaking social media videos.

Newsweek

I began my video career at Newsweek where I pitched and produced multimedia accompaniments to print stories online, including mini docs, audio segments, video interactives and Newsweek podcasts. I earned Newsweek the first Emmy nomination of any U.S. magazine with “Voices of the Fallen,” a complement to the magazine’s compelling Iraq War package.

After a promotion to executive producer, I developed and implemented Newsweek’s broader digital video strategy with top editors while managing all video and audio production, from accepting pitches to editing scripts, managing shoots and edits, proofing finals to promoting the programming online.

I launched serial programming including the viral political smash “The District,” arts and culture’s “Seven Things” and award-winning business animations “Sum Total.” When the magazine produced an Oscar Roundtable as a convening exercise, I recognized its video potential and turned it into an annual marquee video franchise. I then followed up by launching Newsweek’s annual Emmy Roundtable videos.

I built Newsweek’s studios, provisioned and managed its equipment, hired crews and staff, monitored analytics and advised stakeholders for performance improvements.

Under my leadership, Newsweek earned a second Business and Financial Emmy nomination, Webby honors and many other prestigious journalism awards.
